Latest news from the Pima County Transportation Department regarding the south Houghton Road widening project.
Starting Friday, July 1 at 5 a.m. through Tuesday, July 5, construction crews will be paving the newly constructed portion of the southbound lanes on Houghton Road from Dawn Road south to the end of the project area on Houghton Road, which is just south of Andrada Polytechnic High School.
During this time, traffic will remain in place with access to both north and south bound Houghton Road.
If you travel this roadway, please expect to see some delay in travel from paving trucks hauling material through the project work zone. There will be flaggers and sheriff deputies onsite to assist with traffic control.
Please approach the area with caution, obey all traffic control devices and note that the speed limit through the project area is 35 MPH.
Have a happy and safe holiday weekend everyone.

Andrada will be hosting an active shooter training simulation in cooperation with the AZ Border Patrol starting today through Friday and again June 27th through July 1st.
The main office will remain open from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Hello Mavericks, it's the last week of the school year! Yay! Here's what it looks like! Have a great summer ahead... See you on Friday, July 22nd!

Seniors! In order to participate in the end of year party/BBQ tomorrow, and more importantly to walk at Graduation on Friday you MUST return your Chromebook and charger ASAP!

This week is our last spirit week of the school year!
Let's do it Mavericks!

South Houghton Road Widening Project
On Monday, May 9, there will be a traffic change in the South Houghton Road Widening Project. All traffic will be shifted onto the newly paved lanes on the west side of Houghton Road. There will be one lane of travel in each direction (north and south) from I-10 to Dawn Road.
The big news is Brekke Road will be open to all traffic. However, Dawn Road will be temporarily closed at Houghton Road to allow work crews to reconstruct the intersection, adding curbs, access ramps, streetlights and paving.
All traffic will have to use Brekke Road for business access to the Pima County Fairgrounds.
For the remainder of the project, construction will mostly focus on the east side of Houghton Road, which will become the northbound lanes of Houghton Road when completed.
As always, please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices and the 35 mph speed limit. For more information on this project, visit www.Roadprojects.pima.gov.
Have a great and safe Mother’s Day weekend everyone.

South Houghton Road Widening Project Update
Beginning today, Pima County Department of Transportation and contractor, Borderland Construction Inc., will shift traffic onto the newly paved southbound lanes on Houghton Road, from I-10 to the Pima County Fairgrounds entrance.
For those who plan to attend the Pima County Fair, the following routes are recommended:
Eastbound traffic off the I-10: exit on Rita Road and proceed south to Harrison Road to enter the fairgrounds from Brekke Road or Dawn Road. Entrances and parking will be available at both locations.
Westbound traffic off the I-10: take the Houghton Road southbound exit and remain in the outside lane to travel to the main entrance of the Pima County Fairgrounds. The intersection of Brekke Road and Houghton Road remains closed to traffic.
Northbound traffic on Houghton Road: will be directed left onto Dawn Road to enter the fairgrounds.
Work will begin on the northbound lanes of Houghton Road during the first week of May.
As with all road construction, please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices, which are subject to change as work progresses.

The water service has been restored at Andrada and Pantano High School. There was a leak in one of the large pipes in the Tucson water service area that feeds the schools. It has been repaired, the pressure is building back up in the schools' system, and normal operating service is restored.
A big thank you to Vail School District maintenance team for assisting with resolving issue. Also, Mr. Matt Beam for coming to the school to assist with ensuring service to students.
Thank you all for your time and consideration. Have a great rest of your day,

IMPORTANT NOTICE! Temporarily, there's no water service at Andrada High School. At this time school will continue as normally scheduled. A communication was sent through an email for more information.
