Our March 2024 School Trip has been planned...we are going to Scotland & Ireland. We will have two information meetings. Monday, August 22nd at 6 pm in the library, and then Tuesday, August 23rd on Zoom!
Those of you already signed up for our upcoming Germany/Switzerland Trip this March be on the lookout for an email next month about our first trip meeting!

Next Thursday is our first lunch bunch of the school year. For those of you that are new to Andrada....it's in the library during lunch, and we order pizza and get to talk with students about things they like about Andrada, etc.
It's a fun way for us to get to know our students and also hear how things are going so far this school year.
We limit it to 25 students, and you will get a pass to get out of your 4th period 5 minutes early that day! Please email me if you would like to attend.

Open House & MOD Pizza Fundraiser
Just a quick reminder that Andrada’s Open House will be Thursday August 4th, from 5:00—7:00 pm. (Flyer Attached)

On Thursday, from 5:00—5:30 pm we will be introduced to our site council nominees. Voting will be done electronically starting Friday. Then from 5:30—7:00 pm, teachers will be available for you to learn more about the class and/or their club or activity they sponsor. Remember, this Open House is for you to get a quick introduction, see the classroom, and experience your student’s schedule. If you would like to have more time to discuss your student’s progress with a teacher, please fill out the form in that teacher’s classroom so they can reach out to you at a later date. We want to make sure everyone gets some time with the teachers during Open House.
Also on Thursday August 4th, the PTO is doing a fundraiser at Mod Pizza. 20% of your bill will go to our amazing PTO. This fundraiser is open the entire day. So after you and your student visit Open House, stop by Mod Pizza to celebrate your success (or drown your sorrows; hopefully not :-)!) with pizza! See attached flyer for the fundraiser code as you will need to show the flyer when you purchase (you can show from your phone).

Reminder: Reteach emails go out Sunday afternoon to students and takes priority over other MAVTime options. If you do not attend your assigned reteach consequences will be given (lunch or afterschool detention).
Students you MUST check your email, we recommend at least once or twice a day, and especially Sunday evening and Monday morning.

Empire Update
As of 4:30 PM yesterday.
It has been determined that an AC compressor was overheating causing the smoke and there is no active fire at Empire. The situation is being resolved and the fire departments cleared the scene. Maintenance is looking into any necessary repairs.
Empire HS Situation.
We are posting to inform you of smoke in the Empire High School gym. The fire department is on the scene. All students have been evacuated and are safe.
There will be congestion and delays at dismissal.
We may be canceling after school activities.
We will keep you posted as more information becomes available.

Latest news from the Pima County Transportation Department regarding the south Houghton Road widening project.
Starting Friday, July 1 at 5 a.m. through Tuesday, July 5, construction crews will be paving the newly constructed portion of the southbound lanes on Houghton Road from Dawn Road south to the end of the project area on Houghton Road, which is just south of Andrada Polytechnic High School.
During this time, traffic will remain in place with access to both north and south bound Houghton Road.
If you travel this roadway, please expect to see some delay in travel from paving trucks hauling material through the project work zone. There will be flaggers and sheriff deputies onsite to assist with traffic control.
Please approach the area with caution, obey all traffic control devices and note that the speed limit through the project area is 35 MPH.

Andrada will be hosting an active shooter training simulation in cooperation with the AZ Border Patrol starting today through Friday and again June 27th through July 1st.
The main office will remain open from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
