Letter from the Principal August 24, 2020

Hello Andrada Families,

We are heading into our 3rd week of the 20-21 school year. We will be holding a VIRTUAL Open House
this Thursday, August 27th. You’ll receive and email with instructions and a link to attend.

CLEARING UP EXPECTATIONS FOR REMOTE LEARNING

1. Attendance in each class, each day, is required. Somedays students may have synchronous
instruction (collaborative with the teacher and classmates) and other days they may have asynchronous
instruction (independent work to be completed.) Either way, students are expected to sign into Schoology
for each class following the remote bell schedule. IF YOUR STUDENT WILL BE UNAVAILABLE FOR A
CLASS(ES)– FOR ANY REASON– PLEASE CALL THE ATTENDANCE LINE AT 879-3303 TO HAVE
THEM EXCUSED.

2. Participation in video conferences is required of all students. Cameras MUST BE TURNED ON and
microphones must be used. Remote instruction is not effective if teachers are not able to see or hear their
students. This makes participation and assessment nearly impossible. Students who do not participate,
will not be counted present for the day and will receive zero points for the discussion/activity. IF THERE
ARE ISSUES WITH THE COMPUTER’S CAMERA OR MICROPHONE, CALL THE TECH DESK AT
879-3322. TECH ISSUES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AS AN EXCUSE TO NOT PARTICIPATE.
3. If your internet issues are keeping your child from being successful remotely, we may be able to help.
We have limited space available for on-site support. Please contact Lorrie Miller at 879-3341 for more
information.

REMEMBER… Remote learning is different than what was offered 4th quarter. Attendance is mandatory,
participation is expected, and assessments for mastery of the content are being given. Grades are being
updated in PowerSchool, and these grade count toward earning the credits necessary to graduate. If your
student is struggling academically for reasons other than the expectations mentioned above, please call
the front office at 879-3302 to be directed to your child’s counselor and/or case manager.

Thank you for your patience and support as we navigate through this school year!

Best,
Julia Kaiser, Principal
