Friday morning announcements, April 5th, 2019  


Good morning, Andrada. Happy Friday! We made it!


AZMerit testing and our block schedules begin TODAY.

During testing there will be no AO or Clubs meeting. Good luck on your tests. Read the questions and answers carefully and show what you know. Today’s schedule will be:

8:30 – 10:35 1st period

10:40 – 12:45 3rd period

Lunch will be from 12:45 – 1:20

1:25 – 3:30 5th period


Can I please get everyone’s attention, I’ll wait a sec, you are going to want to hear this..(pause a few seconds). Today and next week we will be administering the AZMerit. If after taking these tests, you score highly proficient or achieve high growth percentage you will be exempt from your first semester final in English, Math or both depending on how you score. Good luck Mavericks..YOU GOT THIS!


Teachers, if your students are not taking the AzMerit in your class today, please take a moment to have students take the Vail Cares Survey which has been sent to you. Thank you.


All Athletes planning to attend the pep assembly today at Empire must have a signed permission slip turned into the attendance office before release time in order to attend the assembly.


Congratulations to the track and field team! Both girls and boys teams did well at the ASU Sun Angel Invitational. Isabel Cordova took fourth in Javelin, both girls and boys 4×800 are headed to the finals Saturday. And Sada Dewitt broke the school record in the 1600m running a 5:34! Congratulations!!


Andrada’s Yearbooks are still on sale! The cost has now gone up to $70. Also, the last day to order ONLINE is this Saturday, April 6! After that they must be purchased in the book store. Come fill out an order form in the bookstore or, until April 6th, you can order online at using the code 17539.


Attention all travelers: Are you the least bit interested in going to Australia, New Zealand and Roratunga Island Spring Break of 2020? The last info meeting is at the Vail Innovation Center on Tuesday April 9th at 6 pm. (Isabel: I went on the Switzerland & Italy trip over Spring Break and it was AMAZING! I am so glad that I was able to go and if money is stopping you from signing up, do  not worry.) Make sure you bring your parents because Mrs. Shroder will go over ways you can fundraise, apply tax credits and more to be able to travel at little to no cost. The trip is half full, so make sure to attend the meeting and sign up before there are no more spots. Don’t miss out on the snorkling, beautiful sight-seeing and tons of fun you will never forget!


Prom tickets are on sale! They will cost $75 per couple and $45 single. They will be for sale on the stage during lunch blocks. Prom is a month from today, on April 27th at the 49ers Country Club.  Prom is only for Juniors and Seniors. Underclassmen may attend if they are invited by an upperclassmen. The special discount day is April 12th and the prices on that day will be $35 for singles.

Attention Football Players: The Spring Player / Parent meeting will be held on April 18th at 6 pm in the Empire dining auditorium.


Do you want to go to the Biosphere 2? If you are enrolled in any SCIENCE course and passing all your classes, you can join Mrs. Daconta & Mr. Febbraro on May 3rd at the Biosphere! For $60, spend the whole day performing hands-on labs about hydroponics, biomes, microscopes, and more! Space is limited, so sign up fast—You can pick up a permission slip from Mrs. Daconta or Mr. Febbraro, OR print it out from the Andrada website!


Seniors, have you been accepted to a college, the military or some other after high school program? Please bring your acceptance letters to the college and career center and put yourself on the map!


Link Crew Leaders who are going on the California trip this weekend, remember that you need to be at Empire parking lot tomorrow morning BEFORE 10:30.
